The Shali River Comprehensive Development Project is a key initiative in Luoyang's effort to establish itself as a "Water City of Central Plains, Eco Green City." The recently completed and opened core segment of the Shahe River Scenic Project is a crucial component of this major initiative.
Spanning 5 kilometers with a landscape area of 700,000 square meters, the core segment of the Shahe River Scenic Project encompasses a variety of elements, including exquisite gardens, outdoor sports, children's science education, recreational play, historical imprints, and Chinese character culture.
As an important part of the Shahe River core segment scenic project, the Luoyang Children's Park, designed by Mooton, is divided into three main areas: Octopus Paradise, Crab Snail Bay, and Extreme Island.
Octopus Paradise features an adorable big-eyed octopus, whose tentacles wave invitingly, beckoning children to enter and play. The outdoor play park utilizes a circular elevation design, with various play equipment arranged in a ring on the slopes, creating a diverse sunken play space. The sailing track equipment simulates waves, with swings suspended high on the crests, allowing children to sway in the "waves." The small sea rock climbing area helps kids exercise their limb coordination while they enjoy sliding down the slides.
Crab Snail Bay centers around a massive spiral viewing platform, creating a whimsical scene where crabs and snails seem to be drawn into a vortex. The area is filled with equipment rich in climbing, crawling, and sliding elements, allowing children to freely play on the crab and experience the wonder of inhabiting the inside of a snail.
Extreme Island features comprehensive play equipment such as pirate ships, wave battles, and unique climbing nets. This includes balance swing bridges, hanging piles, zip lines, and small tracks, offering children a rich variety of experiences as they navigate high and low paths, and twisty trails, and engage in tumbling and jumping activities.
With its abundance of play elements, Luoyang Children's Park creates a children's theme park within the riverfront scenic belt, offering a place to enjoy the stunning water views and the fascinating ocean-themed fun. The project aims to provide Luoyang residents with a prime spot for daily leisure and parent-child outings right in the heart of the city.
